Spiriva®
Spiriva® has been approved since October 2001 by the Medicinal Evaluation Board in Den
Haag, Netherlands. Spiriva’s approved indication is for the maintenance treatment of patients with Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease - COPD.
The active substance is tiotropium bromide, which is a
new chemical entity, structurally related to ipratropium bromide (Atrovent
®). Tiotropium is a long-acting inhaled antimuscarinic
bronchodilator.
The capsules are to be administered (once daily) with
the HandiHaler® inhalation device that enables extraction of the dose
from the capsules and dispersion of the drug substance in the inhalation
airstream of the patient.
Spiriva® is available for international shipment.

leaflet in Dutch, accompanied by a translation in
English of
the patient information leaflet and instructions for use

Important Notice

If Spiriva® is not approved in your country
yet, it can be
dispensed in situations where a patient cannot be treated suitably with approved
medication:
- The (lung) specialist has thorough experience in the
treatment of COPD with anticholinergics, is well aware of the therapeutical indications, contra-indications,
precautions, drug interactions and side effects of Spiriva® and has informed the
patient that this medication is unapproved (informed consent);

- The doctor declares that he is aware that Spiriva®
is not on the approved list and that no effective alternative treatment is
available domestically

- The patient declares that Spiriva® is for own use and
provide the name and address of the qualified doctor (in your country)
responsible for evaluation of the treatment with Spiriva® (declaration);

- If you meet the above mentioned conditions and
you have a valid prescription, you
can order Spiriva®
If the request meets the requirements and the order
has been confirmed Meerburg Pharmacy will
guarantee that the recipient will receive the
Spiriva medication or else no charges will be made.
We cannot be
responsible for knowing all aspects of the taxes and duties which may be
applied in the country to which we are shipping. In some cases, duties and
taxes may be as much as as 75% of the total value of the shipment (India).
Some countries levy VAT on personal importation . Those costs are the responsibility
of the recipient.
